Tyler is now playing flag football. I would have never thought of him playing flag football but he does and he loves it. He just loves going to the practices and games. Unfortunately I have only seen one game due to Taylor's softball games but I'll be able to see his game this week. His team is the Red Raiders and he is having so much fun!!

Hurricane Ike Aftermath
As you all know we had a hurricane come through our little town. I am just now getting a chance to update on it. The kids handled the hurricane pretty well. Tyler thought it was cool, Shelby was a pretty scared beforehand. We turned the closet under the stairs into a little hidey hole for them (which she was so excited about). We put a mattress in there and Tyler and Shelby slept in there. Taylor slept on the floor in our room. Tyler and Taylor slept through the whole thing. Shelby got up once and came into our bed. When they got up around 6 am the worst part was mostly over.
We lost our cable at 9:30 pm and then the power at 12:30 am. We had our power back on by 8:30 so we were without power not even 24 hours. Our street got our power back on so quickly because we were on the same grid as the sewer plant. The other parts of our neighborhood didn't get theirs for several days.

Well now we finally have internet and phone after hurricane Ike. I realize the last post I did was for getting ready for hurricane Gustav. Yes, I'm a little behind so I will try to do some catching up
We didn't have much damage from the hurricane thankfully. We lost most of our fence and had a small leak in our kitchen which is just due to the wind blowing water up under the shingles where our porch cover and kitchen connects.
This is our back fence. A few years ago we had a tornado go through our back yard and the fence that fell down, Steve rebuilt. Well the hurricane took down the other part so now Steve has rebuilt our entire fence! In this picture you can see the gate that withstood the hurricane and it still worked!
This was on one side of our neighbors.
We are now all fenced in again! Steve was able to reuse most of the pickets and he went around the neighborhood and picked up some more that people were throwing away.
Luckily there wasn't a lot of house damage in our neighborhood. It was mainly just trees and fences. It was absolutely amazing though watching the wind bend these huge trees. It's hard to believe that the wind can blow that strong.
Life is now back to normal and I will be updating on other parts of our life that is not hurricane related!
Stay tuned!!!
And yes, we did eat the hurricane food that Steve bought! It did afterall come in handy!
